AUGUSTA, Ga. - Completed life's journey and entered into rest on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, Mr. Thomas D. Beard, age 60, of Augusta, Ga., beloved husband of Ann Beasley Beard and son of Herbert and Louise Mills Beard of Warrenville, S. C. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by sons; Tommy Beard, Willie (Missy) Beard, Brad Beard, Willie Beard and Joshua Beard; daughters, Sherry (Bobby) Hensley and Hazel Ann Beard all of Augusta, Ga.; sisters, Patty B. (Jimmy) Bryant of Graniteville and Marion (Joey) Lynn of Warrenville; brothers, Dennis (Valeria) Beard of Warrenville, Eddie (Sandra) Beard of Graniteville; nine grandchildren and numerous special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Beard. He was born in Aiken, S. C. but has been a resident of Augusta, Ga. for the past thirty plus years. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a US Army Veteran having served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a great husband, son, father, grandfather and brother. He never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. The family stated that he had a heart of gold. He will truly be missed by his family and all whose lives he touched, but there is a consolation in knowing that he has moved to his Heavenly home with no more pain or sorrow. The family would like to say a heartfelt thanks to the staff and employees of Heartland Hospice in Augusta, Ga.; especially Nancy, Jessica, Tammy and Pam. The funeral service will be conducted today, Friday, May 2nd at 3:30 PM in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Rhodes and Rev. Stephen Phillips officiating. The interment will follow in the Warrenville Cemetery. The pallbearers will be sons; Tommy Beard, Willie Beard and Brad Beard; other pallbearers will be Bobby Boyce, Keith Beard and Roger Buff. Nephews will serve as Honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at his parents' residence in Warrenville or today, Friday, from 1:30 PM until the hour of service.
