AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Mildred LaVerne Atkins, 69, of Silverdale Rd, wife of the late Estee Atkins, Jr, entered into rest April 22, 2008, at her residence. Funeral services will be held from Morningside Baptist Church Thursday, April 24, at 2:00 pm with the Reverends Joey Vinson and Kevin Steele officiating. Interment will follow at Bellvue Memorial Gardens, Grovetown, GA. Mrs. Atkins was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and the Ladies 3 & 4 Sunday School Class. Survivors include sons and daughters in law, Mark and Sheila Atkins, Hephzibah, and Kenny and April Atkins, Martinez; daughter and son in law, Belinda and Steve Thigpen, Augusta; brothers, Ronnie James, Harlem, and Jerry James, Shell Bluff; grandchildren, Dana Hadden, Crystal Myers, Craig Atkins, Nicholas Atkins, Aaron Atkins, Lauren Atkins, Gabriella Atkins, Samuel Atkins, Keeley Fox, Dustin Thigpen, and Ryan Thigpen; great grandchildren Tanner Hadden, Tristan Hadden, Braxton Myers, Rylee Myers, Kole Thigpen, Kira Thigpen, and Kaylin Fox. Pallbearers will be Shane Atkins, Shaun Myers, Dustin Thigpen, Dwain Hadden, Jr., Craig Atkins, and Dennis Atkins. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, April 23, from 5 - 7 pm.
