ATHENS, Ga. --- One season was enough for Georgia running back Knowshon Moreno to be selected to Playboy magazine's preseason All-America team.

Knowshon Moreno: The redshirt sophomore became at least the 18th Georgia player to be selected as a Playboy All-American.

Last season, Moreno rushed for 1,334 yards and 14 touchdowns, compiling the second-most yards for a Bulldogs freshman behind only Herschel Walker. It was the fourth-best total in SEC history.

Gil Brandt, the former Dallas Cowboys personnel executive who helped select the team, said he had no apprehension about selecting the redshirt sophomore.

"I watched him play and looked at tapes," Brandt said.

Moreno will travel to Phoenix and join the rest of the selected players May 9-11 for the team photo and filming of a television program and will take part in an "Olympic festival" competition.

Arizona State kicker Thomas Weber is the only other sophomore on the team.

Moreno is at least the 18th Playboy All-American for Georgia dating back to 1967.

Former Georgia defensive end Quentin Moses was the last Bulldogs player selected, in 2006. Defensive end David Pollack turned down a spot on the 2003 team because he said the magazine's content conflicted with his religious beliefs.

The recognition probably won't be the last preseason All-America honor for Moreno, who is being talked about as a top-tier Heisman Trophy candidate this season.

In other news, defensive tackles Geno Atkins and Jeff Owens are among 70 players on the watch list for the Outland Trophy, which is awarded to the nation's top interior lineman.
