MILLEN, Ga. - Raleigh Webster White of Millen, Georgia, born August 8, 1917, entered into rest on Thursday, April 17, 2008 after an extended illness. A native of Cumming, Georgia, Mr. White was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II, a farmer, and retired from John C. Wilson Company. He was a Deacon of Elam Baptist Church and a friend to his community. Mr. White was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Stuart White, in 1996. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Elam Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Ophelia Newsome White; his daughter, Sharon White Holton and her husband Glynn of Statesboro; his son Raleigh Stephen White and his wife Wanda of Sardis; his daughter-in-law, Jimmie Faye White; and five grandchildren, Kelly Holton of Decatur, Matthew Glynn Holton of Athens, Erin White of Rome, Jason Raleigh White of Statesboro, and Melissa White of Millen; four sisters, Ruby Hughes of Lawrenceville, Ollie Wall of Dawsonville, Naomi Lowe and Viola White both of Cumming; and one brother Ralph White of Stockbridge. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Crowe-Fields' Funeral Home on Saturday. The family would like to thank friends and neighbors, employees at Bethany Nursing Home and United Hospice for their kindness during his illness.
