AUGUSTA, Ga. - Miss Leila Havird, age 87, was called home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on April 14, 2008. She is now eternally young, beautiful, healthy, and basking in God's unconditional, immeasurable, and incomprehensible love. Miss Havird was the daughter of Oliver John Havird and Kate Melissa Bradley. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 18, 2008 at the Bible Church of Augusta at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dewey Jones officiating. Interment to follow at Westover Memorial Park. Survivors include one brother, Cmdr. Lloyd Bradley Havird, U.S. Navy, Ret., La Jolla, CA.; four sisters, Dora Havird Rivers, Katherine Havird Jarrell, Mary Havird Clouse, and Connie Havird Skalak all of Augusta; seven nieces, Carol Havird Winn, Kay Jarrell Pair (Charles R.), Nancy Jarrell Tumlin (Dr. William D.), Susan Bryant Cooper (Thomas O., Sr.), Janet Usry Stuntz (Robert P., Jr.), Ann Usry McRae (Robert M.), and Pamela Elizabeth Havird; eight nephews, William Edgar Havird (Susan), Edward Oliver Bryant, Sr. (Clara), Horace Darnell Usry (Georgia), Bradley Havird Usry (Paige), Lloyd Bradley Havird, II (Tami), Col. Lawrence Bradley Havird (Jennifer), Victor Shaw Skalak (Christy), and Meyer Shaw Skalak (Patricia); many loving great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews and numerous dear cousins. Miss Havird was preceded in death by one brother, Oliver John Havird, Jr.; three sisters, Vera Havird Bennett, Helen Havird Bryant, Carolyn Havird Usry; and two nephews, John Rogers Havird and Jasper Marvin Bryant, III. Miss Havirds loving and devoted caretakers, Margaret Hightower, Geneva Gilyard, and Irene Taylor. Miss Havird was a retired Director of Child Evangelism Fellowship of Augusta, she was a founder of the Augusta Christian Schools. She was a member of the Bible Church of Augusta. She graduated from The Moody Bible Institute, she received her Bachelors and Masters Degree from Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, FL. Pallbearers will be her nephews; Horace Usry, Col. Ley Havird, Victor Skalak, Meyer Skalak, Edward Bryant, John Bryant, and Christopher Pair. Donations may be made to: Child Evangelism Fellowship at P.O.
