Georgia Tech accuses professors of fraud
ATLANTA --- Georgia Tech has turned over the names of two professors to the state attorney general's office for possible fraud and theft charges after the university discovered discrepancies in their time cards and travel reimbursements.
Georgia Tech spokesman Matt Nagel said Wednesday that a university investigation revealed about $100,000 in questionable activity by the faculty members. They were not named because the investigation is ongoing.
The university believes the two double-billed their time to the institution and falsified travel reimbursement forms.
Mr. Nagel says the university has begun the process of revoking the professors' tenure. He says they are no longer on campus and have been asked to stop any activity on behalf of the university.
University officials believe the questionable spending was from private funding sources.
