SYLVANIA, Ga. - Ms. Frances Marie Griner Godbee, age 80, died Friday at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga. Ms. Godbee was a Jenkins County native and a member of McDonald Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Henry "Jigg" Godbee, Jr. Ms. Godbee is survived by a daughter, Rebecca G. and Wayne Sorrow of Carlton, Ga.; sons, Richard E. and Janice Godbee of Bartow, Ga., David E. and Sharon Godbee of Youngstown, Fla., Donald J. and Syrie Godbee of Deaborn, Mich., Gerald L. and Sharon Godbee of McDonough, Ga.; sisters, Melba Jean G. Jeffers of Sylvania and Linda G. Morris of Rincon, Ga.; brother, Edwin D. Griner of Alpharetta, Ga.; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Ms. Godbee will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Thompson Strickland Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Barnes and Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Screven County Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jess Morris, Bill Jeffers, Dale Griner, Robert Griner, Steve Griner, Tommy Griner, Tim Griner, and Lee Griner. Members of the McDonald Baptist Church Womens Missionary Union will serve as Honorary pallbearers. Visitation at funeral home Sunday, 6-8 p.m. Thompson Strickland Waters Funeral Home in charge.
