BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Mrs. Mary Freeman Cooks, of Brooklyn, N.Y., entered into rest Saturday, April 5, 2008 in New York. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Nathaniel Irvin officiating. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. She was a native of Richmond County, Ga.; a former member of Greater Mt. Canaan Baptist Church and was employed with the New York Health Department for 35 years. Survivors are two daughters, Ashanti and Allaya Cooks, New York; mother, Mamie Lathan, Augusta; two sisters, Robbie (James) Jordan, Wichita Falls, Texas and Belva Jean Howard, Brooklyn, N.Y.; two brothers, Carl Howard and Theodore Howard, Augusta; her companion, Greg Cooks; a host of other relatives and friends.
