Letter to the Editor
I am curious why no one bothers to mention the fact that World War I, World War II, the Korean War, Grenada, Vietnam, the hostage situation in Iran, the first Gulf War and the present Gulf War all have started or been caused by a Democratic president and/or Congress. It has been left up to the Republican Party to go in and clean up the mess that the Democrats have created. And the Republicans seem to be the ones that always get the blame for promoting these.
If President Carter had not made the Iranians mad, we would never have had the hostage situation, which spurred the ranting of Osama bin Laden and the first Gulf War, 9-11 and now the current war.
The problem is that we need to go ahead and finish up what has gone on. Hand the darn press members guns along with their cameras, let them report the truth for a change, and have them learn what it's like to face enemy fire -- and most importantly, forget that there are civilians being killed. Unfortunately, there are no civilians in a war zone.
If we don't finish what we have gotten into, my granddaughter and all the little girls in this country might not have the choice of going unveiled, and your children and grandchildren won't have the choice of religion, to vote or even where they want to live.
So stop with the mudslinging about who is at fault for getting us into this war, and who has caused the dollar to decline, tighten your belts and work together, and support your military and let's get it taken care of -- for not only our freedoms but for the security of the entire world and its future.
