After the storm, the sun came out

I am one of the many people on Dixie Clay Road, Bath, S.C., who was affected greatly by the severe weather March 15.

The damage to my property was extensive. Just looking at it was overwhelming, as I wondered how I would get things back to normal -- if ever.

On Monday morning the 17th, I was approached by some good Samaritans in work clothes offering help. They brought in heavy equipment and manpower and went to work, not wanting anything in return but to be a help.

These men were from the Edgefield Baptist Association and the owners of a heavy equipment rental company on U.S. Highway 25 in North Augusta. Not only did they help me, they also were helping other people in the neighborhood.

People do get tired, but I never heard any one of these men complaining. I heard someone ask if they could help him also, and the quick response was "I'll be happy to help."

In a world that is all about "me, my four and no more," how refreshing to see that good Samaritans are still alive and well. May God bless these men for their unselfish work in helping others in their time of need.

Paul Blackburn, North Augusta, S.C.

These men are representative of America and make poor copy since they don't plead for attention all of the time. It's the shallow "liberal arts" type that get the "news" time. A fine LTE Mr Blackburn. The majority of America is in tact.

That is an awesome testimony to the mercies and of a loving God Paul....He will bless these men for the kindness they have shown you and others......Take care and may God bless you and yours always for taking the time to openly acknowledge these men for their hard work and giving spirit....

"Do all that you do as unto the LORD, knowing that of the LORD you will receive your reward." Would it not be great if all could live in the harmony GOD intended.
