Items stolen as result of late-night break-in
Police investigated a car break-in at an Augusta home Saturday night.
Between 10 p.m. and midnight items were taken from a 2005 Acura MDX, according to a Richmond County sheriff's report. Police said cash, an iPod and a hand-held global-positioning system unit were taken from the sport utility vehicle in the 1400 block of Waters Edge Drive, near downtown Augusta.
No sign of forced entry was evident, the report stated.

Hmmm, sounds like somebody was just begging for this--to leave cash, an iPod and a GPS unit where anyone, simply walking by, would know they were even in there...and no forced entry evident?...
hmmm...
Across the area -1; Across South Carolina - 2. Now if I was editor I think I'd recognize a problem.
namasta, Waters Edge is gated so someone wasn't just casually walking by. I'll bet they don't know that the new IPODs and GPS units can be tracked and traced down to their exact location!
Maybe they should have tournaments more often to help keep crime down.
Could the "victim" be looking for an insurance payment?
You know it is Masters Week when our criminal element takes a vaction as well.....One break in...Uhmm....I suppose they will redouble their efforts next week....
watersedge is not gated! when you live downtown, you are at a greater risk for theft/burglary. i have been a victim, too!
It's not the mainstream of traffic areas either. Someone went there specifically to commit a crime. As far as insurance payments, have you ever tried to collect on a claim? Try it sometime it takes so long it's not worth it, and usually costs you more to attempt it than it's worth.
well said, pizzato
It is only Monday! I doubt that crime has taken the week off, it might just be that there is a major event taking place and it supersedes the usual every-day happenings.
Good point and a good morning dani..:-)
The crooks are all along Washington rd selling pure crap and charging $40 for parking.
