MARTINEZ, Ga. - Mr. William E. "Bill" Pfeiffer, age 83, of Martinez, GA, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 in Augusta. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair, Nebraska. Interment will follow in the Blair Cemetery. Bill was born on April 28, 1925 in Blair, Nebraska to Edward and Dora (Struve) Pfeiffer. He graduated from Blair High School in 1942. He went into the Army in 1944, served in Europe and in the US and was discharged in 1946 with the rank of Sergeant. After graduation he worked in Blair for Fairway Transfer and Blair Dairy for a few years. In late 1946, he moved to Augusta, Georgia. In 1947, he married Betty Strickland. She passed away in 1963. In late 1963, while visiting in Blair he met up with an old friend and schoolmate, Libby Robinson and they married in 1965. They went back to Georgia where Bill worked. He was an over the road truck driver for R-C Motor Lines and Consolidated Freightways for 35 years. He drove over 3 million miles and retired in 1986. He was an avid bowler and was on the Board of Directors of the Augusta Bowling Association and a member of the Augusta Bowling Hall of Fame. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother John, and wife Betty and wife Elizabeth. Surviving are two daughters and son-in-laws, Doris and Steve Hurt, of Niles, MI, Lynn and Brad Clear, of South Bend, IN; a son, William E. Pfeiffer III, of Snellville, GA; a stepdaughter and husband, Jane and Nick Amato, of Charlotte, NC; a stepson and wife, Robert and Beth Farrens, of Snellville, GA; two sisters, Helen Pfeiffer and Louise Pfeiffer, of Blair, NE; brother, Henry Pfeiffer, of Blair, NE and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bud and Janice Robinson, of Blair, NE.
