OH NO, here we go again!!!!
Some people want to have their cake and eat it too. In the case of Sen. Barack Obama, he wants the whole bakery.
It was shameful enough that he gave the kid-glove treatment to toxic comments spewed by his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. The minister's racist, anti-American words drip with contempt.
Obama's Democratic rival in the presidential race, Sen. Hillary Clinton, said last week that she would've quit her church if Wright were her pastor. And how did Obama respond? He said he would've quit, too -- if Wright hadn't been retiring.
What? After 20 years of attending Trinity United Church of Christ, he would move to another church if Wright weren't leaving? What absolute rubbish.
In his recent speech on race, Obama refused to repudiate Wright or renounce his friendship with him. Now he says he would've left the church to get away from him?
Misguided Demcoratic voters may excuse the anti-American blatherings of Wright -- after all, this is the same party that nominated Sen. John "America is Always Wrong, Especially In War" Kerry for president in 2004. But independents and Republicans won't forget what Obama's pastor -- and even Obama's own wife -- have had to say about our country.
Obama has been very adept at playing to Americans' sense of idealism and drawing it out -- and he is to be commended for that. But idealism, by its very nature, must be unalloyed by base instincts of cynicism, hatred and racism.
It's hard to be an icon of idealism while rubbing elbows with those who see only the worst in their country and countrymen.
With each passing day that Obama doesn't truly and fully distance himself from the Rev. Wright and the brand of hate he peddles, it saps the candidate's credibility bit by bit. How much might he have left by the time the Democratic National Convention rolls around?
OH NO, here we go again!!!!
If Obama were caught in at least 2 lies to the public, what makes you think he will be for the people when he is elected????
Bomo just keeps proving he is a dumb as wright. Bomo denies he is muslim. Bomo wont wear a flag pin on his lepal. Bomo want put his hand over his heart during pledge. Bomo runs around with a anti american racist little clown. Bomo tells america that he has been close to this clown for 20 years but he didnt know how wright was. The sad thing ophray turned this into a color race in columbia,sc saying its time for a black man in the white house. When she played the color card the blacks came out of the wood work to back bomo. i dont care what color our president is. But i do care if he is anti american. I do care if he is muslum or not. We are fighting a war with muslims. Now the blacks want to put a man in the white house, just to get a black there and he is a anti american muslim. The men brought back home killed in boby bags by the muslims were not all white. Some black familys lost family members too. But yet the blacks will forget their love ones that died just to try to get a black man in the white house even if he is a lying little racist anti american. Sell your soul and see what you get.
I'm not sure which is worse - Obama's failure to properly repudiate his pastor, or Hillary lying over and over about landing under "sniper fire" to make herself look better.
Sure makes for a clear choice in November, no matter who the dems nominate, though.
Well I am not giving up denouncing this Obama until the last vote has been counted. And if by some chance this person is elected, well then, shame on all Americans for listening to the pretty words of a Senator that has no qualifications other than just that pretty words. This person has no business running for the highest office in the land, none whatsoever. What is happening here is a tragedy in the making not a change or wait a minute hold on now... It may well bring about change. The change will be a nation, a great power, dying as we speak. We will be split apart at the seams no longer the strong global power we once were. The internal structure of a people once proud to be called Americans, one nation under God, indivisible....without division...will be just a memory..... The people who are dead set on following this man for no other reason than "He will set my people free" are at best looking at him through rose colored glasses. The only one who can set a person free, is Jesus Christ God Almighty and that is fact. This Obama is not Jesus Christ so take off the glasses and open your eyes and ears before it is too late..
AAAAARRRGGGH!!! Ya know, when you are watching T.V. and a repeat episode comes on, you usually turn the channel. I think this episode of "Obama and his Pastor" has played waaaaay too many times on this channel. Think I will find a good book.......ummm "Book of Shadows".... sounds interesting.
The chronicle just want "hits' on this site. it drives advertising revenue.
I'm sure the AC will keep this story going for as long as it can since the far-right has no message. Unfortunately for the far-right, Obama is running for president, not his pastor. If we were all held accountable for the actions of our associates, I think we would all have a tough row to hoe. I haven't heard the AC say anything about McCains grovelling at the feet of Robertson and Falwell who are/were 2 of the biggest hate mongerers in this country.
"Can't we all just get along?", "It's time we all move on", "Hey, everyone does it", "What?". Ignore the man behind the curtain, Vote Democrat!
patriciathomas, you said a mouthful you go!!!!!!!!!!!!
All I can say is ain't this "typical white" rhetoric. Once again the oppression of the black man.
It is not about black or white and it is not judging an individual for entry into Heaven, it is about substance. None of the three potential candidates are the best, some just not as worst as the others. To follow and vote for anyone because of his color shows ignorance. We need a good President that can handle the problems with terrorists, social security, health care system, illegal immigrants, the economy, foreign affairs, gas prices, etc. That person is not Obama, nothing in his background and past accomplishments indicates he can handle any of these issues. He sat in a church and listened for 20 years to a preacher that strewed out hate and tried to create racial problems. To me Obama's judgement or lack of judgement is a major problem. For the blacks voting for him because he is black, he never had to live off welfare, live in sub-standard housing, work for the man, or need food stamps. If you are voting because of his color, he is not black!!
Michael ("Oh, paaleeeese") Ryan really has his rottweiler fangs into Obama and won't let go. The course of the ACES page is totally predictable, bash the Democratic candidate in every way imaginable from now to election day. And it will also be fun to watch all you conservatives talk yourselves into believing John McCain really is a conservative ("Reagan reborn"), the same McCain you all were badmouthing a few months ago. Of course none of you would choose to live in a socialistic country where "traditional values" are corrupted and mocked, where terrorists are welcomed at the border, and where our elected leaders promote "the homosexual agenda," "evolution from apes," and the "murder of millions of innocent children." So when either Barack or Hillary is elected president, I'm sure you'll pack your bags and leave before God strikes us all dead. I suggest you leave by crossing the Mexican border, going south. Don't forget your Visa cards, and please don't slam the door behind you! Bye!!!
Typical white rhetoric. It is O.K. for white folks to hate blacks but blacks can't hate whites. Is this one of those freedoms the far right is trying to take away. Didn't us white folks have an ex-KKK poobah running for President a few years back. Obama is the new face for the Black Panther Movement and BLT so he has got just as much right to run for office as the next bigot. If Obama is prez he will finally get the U.S. some justice for all the bad things we done-we deserve to be punished wRight???hee, hee.
The difference is, Bizzaro, that the Republicans shunned that presidential candidate and his candidacy was dead in the water before it even got started. The Democratic party has done a fine job of empowering Sen. Obama by covering up or excusing anything he may do wrong. Where is the honor in that? To tell you the truth, none of the candidates at this point are appealing to me. I plan on writing in a third party candidate if there isn't one on the ballot. I just can't stomach the thought of any of the current candidates being my President
Way to go eel, don't get any closer to the subject then you have to. This is just another case of the white man tryin' to keep the black man down. McCain isn't a conservative, but he has some conservative leanings. He's the only choice for Repubs. now and a few leanings are a lot more then either B.O. and Hillary offer.(I think the homosexual agenda is something you need to deal with) If the country has fallen far enough to elect B.O. or Hillary then it's the duty of conservatives to try to enlighten the ignorant. Running away won't accomplish that. If, however, the country has fallen beyond redemption, then it's time to follow our ancestors and find a land where responsibility and individualism will once again have value.
When thinking about BO, just remember the following are just some of his contacts. wright, his minister and spiritual advisor, who he has continued to listen to for 20 years, so must share his view. farahkan, who he has contact with. rezko, who he has had financial dealings with. emil jones, who he has worked closely with. michelle, his wife, who wasn't proud to be an american. his grandmother that raised and gave him opportunites for execellent education, who he calls a typical white. odinga, his cousin, the rebel leader. His liberal or lack of votes for the people of IL. Call it what you want, but this man is running for president of ALL the people. How many other contacts might he have? Yes, anything he says or does is subject to questions by the voting public.
Yes EEL, we will leave just like George cLOONEY who said if Bush won he would move out of the country, and Michael Moore who gets his medical care in Cuba. Nobody believes McCain is conservative, that is why his challenge is to reach out to the conservatives, so he must be left of conservative somewhat. "Homosexual Agenda" is the left side. Nancy Pelosi cleared the way for a Wisconsin Dem's "partner" to accompany her on a government paid trip, saying she was her "spouse". So far as I know a spouse denotes marriage which is between a man and a woman. You are making a bold prediction with BO or Billary, why dont you step farther out on a limb and say Gore will win. Your rants are idiotic in nature and fail to take an objective view of the country and its problems and know that each candidate has pros and cons, and the objective person would line up the issues and see where each candidate stands on each one. You sound more like a rabid sports fan with your approach instead of a responsible citizen who must vote for the good of the country.
Man, a lot of you really brought into the Southern Strategy really well. Here you are nearly fifty years later, and you're touting it's principles. No Pat, you or any of these others, are qualified to hold us down. You guys don't have any more than most of us. Say what you want, Obama is getting this press mainly because he is black and that is what you want to prevent from entering the White House. Blacks couldn't even enter the White House, except through the back or side doors and you believe, no racist have ever lived in the Whie House. Besides this is old news, it's time to move on and get back to the issues.
Shivas, which presidential candidate is a member of Falwell or Robertson's church? I'm with you Patricia. McCain was not my first choice, but we have no one else to turn to with Obama's racist, bigoted Black Liberation Theology beliefs, and Hillary's playing hop scotch with the truth. Yes, Bizarro, Obama has a right to run as a racist. And the KKK thing, isn't that history? Did this man get elected? I don't know who you're referring to with your KKK reference. David Dukes perhaps?
And you're right, Christian, we've got to keep getting the message out about Obama's racist heart. And by the way, good morning. It is good!
Sen. Clinton wouldn't have quit her church because in 1998, then President Clinton had entertained Rev. Wright at the White House several times. I wouldn't quit my church either because Rev. Wright is not a racist. The words that he repeated if you heard the entire message were quotes from a white Ambassador who was not a racist. They were making about point about some things. Take time to hear the entire message before you start feeding into the snippets. That's what the media is all about. There were several white ministers on CNN Monday night praising Rev. Wright for the great works that he has done. He is a retired Marine with twenty plus years dedicated to his country that he loved. He put his life on the line for people like you. Hillary put that mess out there so the focus would be on Barack and not on her for lying about the Bosnia snipers. Get real!
effete - we ain't leaving for Mexico, friend. We'll tough it out for four years if Obama wins this thing as well all of the whites. Aren't there any blacks out there who don't share Obama's racist views and those of Rev. Wright? I guess it's time for us to go back to the plantation except this time the blacks will be in power and whip the whites for all the injustices done in the past to this race. Never mind a white President's Emancipation Proclamation backed up by military victory by a white army that freed the slaves. The white race paid for its mistakes at a cost of 500,000 dead. Isn't it time to forgive and forget and drop the racist blather from the black pulpits?
Gosh, this subject has gotten all the right-wingers feeling giddy. Nothing like an opportunity to verbalize racism to make the day go by better. Especially when they can do it with such sarcasm and satire. Just another example of hypocrisy with their guilt by association.
What - Wright's message was not taken out of context. It is the context and is called Black Liberation Theology. Jesus is not a Jew but is black. "The white supremecy government runs everything from the White House to the KKK. The UKKK of America." And how about his recognition and trip to Libia with the #1 racist in the world - Louis Farakkahn. He is a racist and a bigot, pure and simple - I don't care how many people kiss his feet and how many white preachers endorse his hate-filled message. Endorsements don't mean squat. A lot of Germans endorsed Hitler and brought him to power. A lot of Southerners endorsed splitting the Union and endorsing Jeff Davis. The southern fire-eaters won the day. Rational, loving and kind people lost out in the South. Give me the voice crying in the wilderness any day over endorsements of a racist.
Where is all the outrage at the black africans that made their own people slaves and brought them to this country? What is to be their punishment, since you need punishment? What about all the blacks that want to be called african-american? Are you really that proud of those africans and how they treat their people? Only in America!
"Typical white rhetoric. It is O.K. for white folks to hate blacks but blacks can't hate whites." REALLY??? It's ok for whites to hate blacks? I don't think it is. I CERTAINLY don't think it would be ok for a white presidential candidate to spend 20 years in the KKK and then try to brush it off as if it were nothing. Mind you, I'm sick and tired of the whole Rev Wright thing, and no, I don't think that Obama is responsible for what his preacher says. But he was utterly Clintonesque in his "I wasn't there when some of these things were said" moment; he should have manned up and said that it was the wrong thing for Wright to say. Please note that ONLY Democrats have sitting legislators with a KKK past...it's so interesting to me: A Republican president took the first concrete steps to end slavery, and the 13th Amendment was pushed by Republicans. The South then spent nearly 100 years electing Democrat majorities in their state gov'ts, who presided over the worst abuses, civil rights violations, murders, you name it. The southern dems elect former KKK leaders. And when the South finally gets a civilized view of race relations, we start seeing Republicans elected to office.
Perdue is elected as Georgia's first Republican governor since Reconstruction, and brings in a new Republican majority in both houses of the legislature for the first time since Reconstruction. Shortly thereafter, in Georgia (Dixie, the supposed HEART of racism and bigotry, if you listen to ABC/CNN/NBC/CBS/NYT), Barack Obama wins a higher percentage of the white vote than he did in oh-so-progressive NEW YORK CITY. Republican presidential administrations break new ground in appointing black Supreme Court justices, Secretaries of State, Chairs of JCS, you name it. So, naturally, in the liberal-biased media, the party of racism is: THE REPUBLICANS! "Yes, ladies & gents, it defies belief! For our next trick, watch as we 'prove' to you that conservatives hate the poor and want them all to die, while at the same time giving to charity at three times the rate of liberals, although the latters' income exceeds the formers' by about 11%, on average! Step right up, next show is at 6pm!"
patriciathomas: how will we know, Ms. Leader, when our beloved country has "fallen beyond redemption"? I guess we'll all have to count on you to "enlighten" us. It will be a sad day, for sure, but we will fall in behind as you lead us to the new Promised Land, the new "City on the Hill." May I suggest Greenland? I can see it now, patriciathomas leading the Latter Day Pilgrims in seeking new lands uncorrupted by evil liberals and socialists. Don't forget to take your Bibles and semi--automatics with you. Those "left behind" won't need either. You all can spent your new lives shooting each other or praying for each other, in no particular order.
