All the listed events are open to the public, although membership in some organizations may be required.

TODAY: A boat show will be held by Hayes Marine with Crownline, NauticStar, Sea Pro, and Stingray boats. Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at West Town Market Square (K-mart) parking lot on Washington Road in Martinez.

TODAY: The Palmetto Sportsmen's Classic concludes at the fairgrounds in Columbia. Doors will be open 11 a.m.- 6 p.m. New for 2008 is Steve Hoddy of Earthquest-Birds of Prey. Some returning events are Roark Ferguson or "Big Snake Daddy," and Joe Kelly's North American Wildlife Collection and Southern Whitetail Collection. APRIL 12: A Songbird Walk will be held from 8-11 a.m. at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park. Hear the beautiful music of vireos, buntings, warblers, and other songbirds and look for feathered friends traveling through Phinizy Swamp Nature Park for the summer. APRIL 13: A Scholastic Clays Target Program team will meet at 2 p.m. at Carolina Star Gun and Hunt Club. New shooters are encouraged to attend. Membership on this team is open to all junior and senior high school students in the CSRA. This program counts as an academic sport. APRIL 15: A backyard habitat seminar will be held at 6 p.m. at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park. Lois Stacey will present ways to attract wildlife and birds to your yard while conserving water. Learn how to register your yard as a wildlife habitat. A $3 donation per family is suggested. Advance reservations not necessary. Call (706) 828-2109 for more information.

APRIL 18: Hayes Marine will hold a re-opening and ribbon cutting at noon with demonstrations by pro angler Ralph Barbee and vendors including the Army Corp of Engineers, Bluewater Marine, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Street and Trail, and West Marine. The marina is off Lake Springs Drive on Thurmond Lake. Boats will be on the water and available for demonstration rides.

APRIL 19: The 7th annual Swamp Stomp 5K will be held at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park. Race benefits will go to Southeastern Natural Sciences Academy. Call (706) 828-2109 for details.

APRIL 19: An Earth Day Workday will be held at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Assist in building a boardwalk around the William Bartram Rain Garden and other physical projects around the park. All ages, skill levels accepted. Coffee, breakfast items, light snacks and water provided. Advanced registration is required to match up tools, volunteers and tasks. Call (706) 828-2109 to register.

APRIL 20: The Women's Pistol Shooting Group (WPSG) will meet at Carolina Star Gun and Hunt Club pistol range at 1 and 3 p.m. The group is open to all women pistol shooters.
