POLO PRIME: Polo has been prominent in Aiken since 1882, but over the past few years, Aiken has become a hot spot for the sport. Since the game's inception into the Aiken Triple Crown in 2004 when it replaced the Harness Races, the number of polo fields has grown to more than 40, which is more than doubling the number from 2005.

OTHER LEGS: The first leg, the Aiken Trials, has been held annually since 1942 at Aiken Training Track. It was held on March 14 this year. The second leg, the Aiken Steeplechase, was first run in 1931, but was suspended during World War II. It was held on March 21 at Ford Conger Field.
