The DuPont Planetarium will present In My Backyard at 7 p.m. and Cruising Through the Constellations at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and April 18 and 19. The planetarium is on the campus of the University of South Carolina Aiken, 471 University Parkway.

Free tax service
The Aiken Public Library will have free income tax preparation through Thursday, April 10, for low- and middle-income taxpayers, with special attention for those 60 and older. Taxes are prepared by volunteer counselors trained by the Internal Revenue Service.
The Nancy Carson Library will have income tax preparation and electronic filing available free from 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays through April 15, by appointment only. The 55+ Ministry of First Baptist Church of North Augusta will hold An Evening to Remember at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 18, in the fellowship hall on the West Avenue side of the church.

The deadline for contestant registration is Friday, April 18, and the cost is $5 per person.
Contestants will be given seeds to plant on an eighth to a quarter-acre area and must keep notes on its development during the growing season.

The Aiken Kite Festival will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 19.

Car show benefit
The Wish Upon a Car benefit car show will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the Aiken Mall, 2441 Whiskey Road. The show will award trophies for all classes of cars. There will be door prizes and other games. Cars must be registered before the show.
