AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. George L. Chavous, 54, of Bayvale Rd, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at MCG. He was the beloved husband of 34 years to Shirley Chavous. He was the son of the late Warren and Hattie Chavous. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 30, 2008, at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mr. Chavous was the retired business owner of Chavous Paint and Body which is now owned by his son, John Gamble. He was a member of Solomon's Porch. His hobbies included golfing, fishing, boating, flying RC aircraft, and riding his Harleys. Diagnosed with heart disease and COPD he retired in 1999. He lost his battle and was laid to eternal rest with the Lord due to complications of his disease. In addition to his wife he is survived by son, John Gamble, daughter, Sheena Caamal, daughter and son-in-law, Kristy and Kevin Howard, of Martinez, brother and sister-in-law, Jack H. and Jean Chavous, of Hephzibah; three precious grandchildren, Carson Caamal, Carrie and Carley Howard; five nieces and eleven nephews. Active pallbearers will be Joey McFadden, Tim Malin, Terry Young, Jay Chavous, Wendy Chavous, and Steve Chavous. Honorary pallbearers will be George Hall, Bud Tharpe, and Kevin Howard.
