School buses will be outfitted with GPS

All Richmond County school buses will be outfitted with a global positioning system by May 1, part of a technology upgrade recommended in a recent audit.

The department will be able to monitor actual routes taken by drivers and compare that with the scheduled routes. Routes can then be made more efficient and transportation officials will know where buses are.

The GPS devices will also feature two-way radios. They will also have 911 capability.

The department has been testing a GPS program since the fall.

This is a blanket statement to a great many pedophiles in this area....Leave the children alone...If having sex is a priority just find an island, slime your way over there, wait and let the rest of us round up all the other vermin, send them to the island and ya'll just have a field day with each other. You and others like yourselves just go away...

Reality

Well, I will be the first to ask, where in the world are the girls parents when this was going on?????

AugustaVoter

Reality, turning the other cheek. Or not caring at all.

castrate him(them) !!!

It seems as if GPS will cause school bus drivers to loose a lot of 'perks' and actually be forced to do their job correctly. With 'big brother' watching they will have to be on time, pick up and drop off children where they are supposed to, and obey speed and other traffic regulations. There will be no more unauthorized stops at fast-food, quick-stop, and other retail establishments. All I can say is please do not give the maintenance/service contract for the GPS units to the same company that can not seem to keep up the A/RC Sheriff's Department in-car cameras.

Smart little girls SHOULD know better!

Duh, what did these "intelligent" teens think would happen? Free beer? HAH! Not enough time on this earth to understand that nothing is truly "free."

dani

Who will monitor the GPS systems for unathorized stops? It will probably be the same old "taking care of your own" thing.

dani: Remember, RCBE is under new management. Dr. Bedden seems to be more proactive and has already changed the way that things operate. Right now I have faith that he will make sure it is done correctly.

Jesus, there's nothing to stir up RACE in today's paper, how quiet are the posters... Makes you wonder and continue to pray.

Evans Ga.

I'm so glad that another child molester has been caught. I also hope that from now on these kids parents will be keeping track of where their children are more often.

dani

No longer..I will keep my fingers crossed. In spite of his good intentions Bedden can't watch everything. We will see..
