AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Trinity Hospital, Mr. James E. Thompson, 68, of Augusta. Mr. Thompson was a native of Aiken, SC and has lived most of his life in Augusta. He was retired from IBEW as an Electrician. Mr. Thompson was a member of St. Mary on-the-Hill Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Patrick Walsh Council 677 and a 4th Degree member of Assembly 174. He was the 2007 Knight of the Year for Patrick Walsh Council 677 with 40 years of devoted service. Family members include his daughters: Teresa T. Brewton and husband Timothy of Augusta, Shannon T. LaMott and husband Matthew of Mocksville, NC; his son: David M. Thompson and wife Sarah of Charlotte, NC; 9 grandchildren; mother: Mary B. Thompson and brother: Dr. John Michael Thompson. A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on-the-Hill Catholic Church with Rev. Gerald Ragan celebrant. Pallbearers will be members of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly 174. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Knights of Columbus Patrick Walsh Council 677. Interment will follow in Graniteville Cemetery, Graniteville, SC.
