AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Doctors Hospital, Reverend George Wylie Schultz. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 12:00 noon from Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, 1237 Summer Street, with Reverend Alton R. Pegues officiating. Interment will be in Walker Memorial Park. Reverend Schultz was a native of Burke County, Georgia, he resided in Richmond, Virginia for many years. Reverend Schultz attended Savannah State University and completed his ministerial training at the College of the Scriptures, Louisville, Kentucky in 1942. He was accepted into the Georgia Conference at Pleasant Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in the early 1940's; pastoring throughout the Augusta and Winder Districts, North Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, South Carolina and the Virginia Conferences. One of his greatest accomplishments was purchasing and pastoring the Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church, Richmond, Virginia. Prior to returning home to Augusta, he joined and faithfully served with the ministerial staff at Hood Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, Richmond, Virginia. Survivors are his wife, Thelma Schultz, Richmond, VA; daughter, Esther (John) Vaughn, Rome, GA; three grandchildren; nieces, Mamie G. Holliday, Margaret McCain, Simmie L. Nelson, Susie McKnight, Patricia S. Huff, Roslyn Schultz-Briscoe, Davida L. Schultz and Patricia Jones; nephews, Floyd Green, Jr., Burt (Madeline) Jackson, Henry (Lynda) Barnes; a devoted great nephew, Mark (Nina) Holliday; and a host of other great nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
