PLEASANT, S.C. - Robert L. Perley, 90, a retired US Army colonel who served his nation for 30 years in times of peace and through three wars, died March 22 at East Cooper Regional Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Born November 4, 1917 in Manila, Philippines, into a military family, he grew up around the world. He graduated from University of Nebraska Omaha. He is survived by his beloved wife June; his daughters Carolyn Bonner and Mollie (David) Silver, grandsons David and Daniel Silver, all of Augusta, GA; grandsons David Nelson, Rockville, MD, Robert Nelson, Philadelphia, PA; stepdaughters Robin (Chris Boyatzis) Jarrell, Lewisburg, PA, Kelly (Zachary) Day, Augusta, GA, Gaffney Jarrell, Greenville, SC, step-granddaughters Janine Merolla and Sedona Boyatzis, Lewisburg, PA. He was preceded in death in 1997 by his wife of 57 years, Julia. A memorial service will be held Friday at 2:00, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Mt. Pleasant, where he was an active member.
