NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Funeral services for Mr. William B. Herndon, 82, of Campbellton Drive, North Augusta, SC, who entered into rest March 23, 2008, will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 o'clock from the Fairview Presbyterian Church. Dr. Robert F. Fuller, Jr. and Dr. G. Daniel McCall officiating. Interment in Pineview Memorial Gardens with Veterans Honors. Mr. Herndon was a native of Auburn, Kentucky having made North Augusta his home for the past 36 years. He was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church where he was a former Deacon and Elder and was a retired Engineer with Maytag. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II and a Prisoner of War. Mr. Herndon was the South Carolina State Commander and Commander of the Aiken Chapter of Ex Prisoners of War, a Gideon, an avid golfer and was a volunteer for the adaptive golf program for the disabled at Walton Rehabilation Center. Mr. Herndon was the husband of the late Martha Scott Herndon and the grandfather of the late Joseph William Borgmann. Survivors include a son, Barry Scott Herndon, Phoenix, AZ; three daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Bob Borgmann, Greensboro, NC, Becky and David Wilkerson, Dalton, GA and Marti and Mike Flippo, North Augusta; eight grandchildren, Tony Borgmann, Ben Borgmann, Matt Borgmann, Jeff Wilkerson, Laura Wilkerson, Brad Wilkerson, Taylor Flippo and Kimberly Flippo; two sisters, Elizabeth Chisholm, Franklin, KY and Mary Cohron, North Salem, IN. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the South Carolina Ex Prisoners of War. Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Matthew Farmer. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 to 8.
