- Laurie Vanover, of the Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau, has received the Supplier of the Year Award from the Atlanta chapter of the Society of Government Meeting Professionals.

- Dr. Dale W. Sickles , a neurotoxicologist and vice chairman of the Department of Cellular Biology and Anatomy at the Medical College of Georgia, has been appointed to the Environmental Protection Agency's Scientific Advisory Board for Acrylamide Toxicity. Dr. Sickles, who earned his doctorate in anatomy from West Virginia University in 1978, has been on the MCG faculty for 30 years.

- John T. Chandler was named top mortgage producer in January and February at Georgia Bank & Trust.

- Sean Collett was the top mortgage producer in units at Rhodes Financial Mortgage in February.

- Dr. John Smith, of Aiken County, and Jackie Brown, of McCormick County, were among 13 South Carolinians honored as Homegrown Champions at the Department of Commerce's Rural Summit in Clemson, S.C. The Homegrown Champions award is designed to recognize individuals who moved back to their hometown and have made an impact in the community.

- Jennifer Clements , a recruiter in MAU Inc.'s Professional Recruiting Division, has been awarded the certified personnel consultant certification for outstanding achievements in professional competence and high ethical and professional standards in the contract and direct-hire placement industries.

- Dr. J. Todd Spradlin and Dr. Michael Tucker have been named to Xytex International's board of directors. Dr. Spradlin is the company's chief medical and laboratory director and is chairman of its medical advisory board. He joined the company in 1997. Dr. Tucker is scientific director and co-founder of Georgia Reproductive Specialists in Atlanta and is also laboratory director at Shady Grove Fertility Reproductive Science Center in Rockville, Md.

- Barry L. Storey , co-founder of Augusta's Hull-Storey Retail Group, has joined AFB&T's board of directors. The Synovus affiliate is the parent company of Athens First Bank & Trust and Augusta First Bank & Trust. Mr. Storey, an Augusta native, will be responsible for guiding the company's growth plan in the Augusta market.

- Teresa Andrews was the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center's Employee of the Month for January for achievements in leadership, customer service, community involvement and contribution to the medical center goals. Ms. Andrews, a radiology technician in the imaging department, is a 20-year member of the Army National Guard and served during Operation Desert Storm.

- Duane Love was the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center's Employee of the Month for February for achievements in leadership, customer service, community involvement and contribution to the medical center goals. Mr. Love, a licensed practical nurse in the primary care clinics at the Uptown Division, is a volunteer tutor at the Augusta State University Literacy Center.

- Zenobia Boyd was named the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center's Employee of the Month for March for achievements in leadership, customer service, community involvement and contribution to the medical center goals. Ms. Boyd, a quality management technician in the executive offices, is an Army veteran and is pursuing a master's degree in health administration.

- The following Realtors were honored at the Greater Augusta Association of Realtors President's Award & Awards Luncheon on Feb. 13 at West Lake Country Club: Vernon Smith ; recipient of the H. Gould Barrett Award; Tom Horner , President's Award; and Linda Squarcette , Realtor of the Year.

- Windsor Jewelers received a second-place award at INDESIGN's Jewelry & Watch Advertising Awards in the radio category for its "Green box moment in New York City" advertisement.

- Larry Miller Century 21 Realty announced the following Realtors have been recertified as Cartus Network Affinity specialists: Angie Abraham, Annett Jackson-Brown, Brenda Wright, Frank Stacey, Kim Costine, Linda Davis, Lynne Sims, Peggy Jarrett, Larry Ramsey, Rose Evans, Sandra Negron and Sarah Collins . The following Realtors are new Cartus Network Affinity specialists: Dennis Simpson, Eva Taylor, Jerrell Hawk and Maria Vaill .

- Four Augusta Technical College students have been selected as college semifinalists for the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership: Laura Ferguson , Martinez, occupational therapy assistant major; Charlene Hardy , Evans, occupational therapy assistant major; Rhonda Loring , Martinez, pharmacy technology major; and Jason Trefil , Fort Gordon, a technical studies major.

- Van Land , a principal of The Van Land Agency/Allstate Insurance, has completed the inaugural class of National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors' Leadership in Life Institute, which focused on time management, vision and mission statements, and creating deeper relationships.

- John Marcus was the top producer in February for First Bank Mortgage.

- Travis Foust has received the seller representative specialist designation from The SRS Council for achievements in real estate education.

- Jeff Padgett , the vice chairman of the Richmond County Federal Credit Union, has been elected president of the Augusta Credit Union chapter. He has 25 years of credit union experience locally and statewide.

- Ty Ellefson , a driver for Budd Van Lines in Augusta, has received the inaugural Ronnie Hamm Tradition of Excellence Award for achievements in client satisfaction. The North Augusta resident was recognized for volunteering to help a transferee salvage and relocate his remaining household goods after Hurricane Katrina.
