APPLING, Ga. - went to be with the Lord on March 22, 2008 at his home in Appling, Mr. Horace Clyde Head, Sr., 72, husband of Sylvia W. Head. Mr. Head was born in Scaly Mountain, NC and has resided in the Augusta area for the past 52 years. He was a retired general contractor from the H.C. Head Contracting Co., Inc. He made numerous mission trips to Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, where he built the Bible school, Agua de Vida (Water of Life). He was a past sponsor of the Boys and Girls Club. He started seven churches through the Global 12 Project at New Hope Worship Center, where he attended. He also designed and built the Alpha Center at New Hope West in memory of his stepdaughter, Sharon Arrington. He renovated LOTS Place on Broad Street for the homeless. He believed in helping the widows and orphans as Jesus instructed and did so daily. He was a devoted husband, dad, grandfather, brother, and friend. Clyde never met a stranger and lived life to the fullest. He will be missed greatly by everyone whose life he touched. Family members in addition to his wife include his daughters: Donna Burg and husband Joe of Martinez, Edie Kinson and husband Kirk of Martinez; son: H.C. "Russ" Head, Jr. and wife Brenda of Appling; grandchildren: Deidra Lott, Katie Kinson, Joel Kinson, and Dylan Head, and brothers: Claude, Ray, Gene and Ellis Head. Mr. Head was preceded in death by his parents: John Dellon Head and Annie Dryman Head; sister: Edith Wilson and granddaughter: Amy Lott. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 26, at 3 PM at New Hope Worship Center with Rev. Rich Bowen and Rev. William Carpenter officiating. Pallbearers are James Dallas, Ken Coleman, Ed Tiller, Jay May, Horace Foss, Robert Burton, Jerry James, and Tommy Rambo. Honorary Pallbearers are employees of the E-Z-Go Textron Inc. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the New Hope Worship Center Global 12 Project, 715 South Old Belair Rd., Grovetown, GA 30813.
