Columbia County Animal Care and Control officials corralled a stray horse Friday in Grovetown. Now they just need to find the owner.
A resident of Goldsboro Road reported the horse running loose Friday morning in the area where animal control officials wrangled it with no problems, said county Emergency Services Director Pam Tucker, whose office oversees animal control.
Though the horse posed no immediate threat, Mrs. Tucker said, the potential for harm prompted immediate action.
Mrs. Tucker described the horse as a 2-year-old brown-and-white mare, possibly a Palomino or Haflinger, wearing a black leather halter with silver studs.
No one had claimed the animal as of Friday afternoon. "We'll find the owner. I'm certain of it," Mrs. Tucker said.
