AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. James Wimburn, 84, of Augusta, Georgia entered into rest on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Charlie Norwood V. A. Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Lillian Dixon Wimburn. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Elliott Sons Funeral Home Lumpkin Road Chapel with Reverend Bill Burch officiating. Interment will follow in Wrens Memorial Cemetery, Wrens, Georgia. A native of Wrens, Georgia, James was the son of the late James Lawson Wimburn and the late Agnes Fleming Wimburn. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was co-owner of Interstate Supply Company. James was a member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be Barry Nichols, Steve Clark, Millwee Owens III, John Dixon, Bill Owens and Bill Dixon. Honorary pallbearers will be Millwee Owens Jr., Forrest Silvey, Cliff Watton, and Dr. Rob Collier Additional survivors include two sons, James Michael Wimburn and his wife Pam of Appling, Georgia, and John Burke Wimburn of Augusta, Georgia; two daughters, Bonnie Wimburn Smith of Portland, Oregon and Diane Clark of North Augusta, South Carolina; eight grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Agnes Fleming Silvey and Eleanor Fleming Powell both of Augusta, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Elliott Sons Lumpkin Road Chapel.
