AIKEN, S.C. - L.W. (Dub) Johnson, Sr., Palisades Dr., Aiken, passed away March 4, 2008 at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, Ga. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2008, 2 p.m. at the Zion Fair Missionary Baptist Church in Old Ellenton, S.C., Aiken County. Interment will be in Zion Fair Church Cemetery. The remains will be placed in the church at 12 noon. He was born May 1, 1925 in Aiken County to the late James Johnson, Sr. and Katie Oakman Johnson. At an early age he joined the Zion Fair Missionary Baptist Church in Old Ellenton. He was united in Holy Wedlock to the late Hattie Mae Cummings in 1943 and to this union three children were born. The family relocated to the Bronx, N.Y. in June 1960. There they united with the Goodwill Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. James E. Miles. Mr. Johnson worked at City Steel Door for over 30 years before retiring. Survivors include son, L.W. (Lessie B.) Johnson; one daughter, Shirley A. (Jason) Hilton; two sisters, Katie Mae (Charlie) Dandridge and Patricia Cato; three sisters-in-law, Virginia Johnson, Elise Cummings and Elease Cummings; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
