Pupils who made bomb threats are back in jail
Two of the Richmond County pupils found last month to have made bomb threats are back behind bars, according to Juvenile Court Judge Bill Sams.
Over the weekend, the youths were detained in connection with a battery, Judge Sams said.
On Monday, he held a detention hearing for the two juveniles and found enough evidence to hold them over in the Youth Detention Center until Friday.
At that time, a hearing will be held to determine if the students, ages 12 and 13, violated their probation. If they did, they could be locked up for 60 days.
The bomb threats were made against Glenn Hills Middle and Glenn Hills High schools.
The youths attended Glenn Hills Middle.
Council OKs proposal to build along river
The North Augusta City Council on Monday approved development plans for five new houses, a road and commercial space along the Savannah River.
The plans had been part of a failed bid to build a 256-unit apartment complex near the Fifth Street bridge.
The plans by River North developer Carl Sanders call for up to 45,000 square feet of commercial space.
The road, which would connect to River North Drive, is designed to provide access to the commercial area and a 30-acre parcel along the river owned by L.H. Simkins Jr.
Plans call for clocks, flagpole on building
Two 9-foot-diameter clocks and a flagpole could be added to the tower atop the new North Augusta Municipal Building, officials said Monday.
The North Augusta City Council gave the go-ahead to have an architect revise plans for the building's tower. It would include a 40-foot flagpole, a clock facing north along Georgia Avenue and another facing south along the planned Center Street thoroughfare that will connect downtown to Hammond's Ferry.
City Administrator C. Sam Bennett III said the estimated cost is $73,500.

Police use Taser on man after he flees
North Augusta Public Safety officers said they stunned a man with a Taser after he fled from them Sunday.
Robert Brent Cameron, 49, of the 1300 block of Greene Street in Augusta, was charged with first-degree burglary, resisting arrest and kidnapping, according to a public safety report.
Mr. Cameron is accused of breaking into a 79-year-old North Augusta woman's home, pushing her to the ground, then stealing her car.
The man wrecked the car off East Clifton Avenue at East Avenue, then fled on foot.
The man was shot with a Taser but managed to pull the probes from his body. Officers fired again and were able to subdue him, the report said.
