Augusta needs a reliable airline

  • Follow Letters

Recently, Delta announced that it will be adding more Atlanta-Augusta and New York-Augusta flights during the week of the Masters Tournament. I can't help but wonder: Will Delta honor those commitments, or cancel a good number of flights -- as has been their habit during the other 51 weeks of the year?

The airport improvements are beautiful, but an updated airport is useless if the carriers are unreliable.

The political leadership in Augusta has failed the city time after time. Bush Field is just another example of that. Delta has profited greatly for many years from the Masters and we have had the chance to use that as leverage to create a better airport and air service for Augustans. I could not agree with you more fd1962. I fly every other week for my company and I often have to go to Columbia to fly not because of price but because of scheduling. It's a shame especially with a beautiful new airport here in Augusta, but its reality for many Augustans who regularly fly.

Demand begets supply. Clearly, there is not sufficient demand outside of Masters week for Delta (or any other carrier) to worry about schedules into and out of Augusta.

Buick, your statement of the obvious seems to escape so many. Supply and demand go hand in hand.

Very well expressed. I would like to see another airline in Augusta to give Delta some competition. Then let's see how they operate with regard to schedules, fares and overall performance.

I would like to see anonther airline in Augusta as well. I for one know Delta is last in Customer Service, Flights being On Time and definately last in low prices. They should be replaced with ValueJet or Southwest Airlines. Anybody but ASA. They aren't even nice enough to tell you any update reference your flight. The agents always seem to get gone when the flights are delayed. Hint Hint Hint. If the weather calls for rain don't try to fly with Delta. U.S. Air always flies in the rain and almost never have delays or cancellations.

well I am glad that us air flyies in the rain but I would rather have a delay then to be unsafe as Delta values there customers and there saftey.
