AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Nicholas Marchisio, 87, of Augusta, Georgia passed away Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Blue Ridge Health Care in Raleigh, North Carolina after a short illness. He was the son of the late Caroline Tosi and the late Nicholas Marchisio. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Nicholas was married on July 13, 1945 to the former Margaret Brown of Graniteville, South Carolina who preceded him in death in 2003. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II as Staff Sergeant in the 10th Armored Division under General George S. Patton and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. While stationed in Ft. Meyers, Virginia, he served as a guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Mr. Marchisio was an electrician with I.B.E.W. Local 1579 and retired in 1982 from the Savannah River Plant. He was a member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include his daughter, Paulette Marchisio Cram and her husband Jerry of Burnsville, North Carolina; two grandsons, Nicholas Coppedge and his wife Yvette, and Brian Coppedge and his wife Tricia; two great-grandchildren, Lucy Coppedge and Chase Coppedge all of Raleigh, North Carolina; one sister, Penny Wright and her husband Richard of Charleroi, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Charles Tosi and his wife Louise of Mentor, Ohio and Elmer Tosi and his wife Loretta of Rice's Landing, Pennsylvania; a very special friend, Margie Hammett of Augusta, Georgia and special friends, Jackie Meadows and Barbara Griffin, both of Augusta, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road Chapel.
