AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Winifred Lois Keith entered into rest on Friday, February 29, 2008, at University Hospital, after a brief illness. Wife to the late George Keith for fifty -two years. She worked briefly for the Social Security Administration and spent seventeen years working for the U.S. Postal Service. Affectionately called Lois, she was president of the APWU (Postal Union), the first black female hired at the Augusta Post Office, Trustee Board at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Secretary/Treasurer Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Alumini St. Augustine College - B.S. Degree in Chemistry. Survivors are: niece, Kathye Sellers (Chicago); great-niece, Gloria Sellers (Chicago); Alvin Sims (godson), Ramel Swinney (god-daughter), Marian Boler (god-daughter); adopted daughter, Penny Mitchell (Mitch); adopted grand-daughter, Penelope Lavern Owens, adopted grandson, Zaire (Ebony) Mitchell, extended family; Wallace (Sherry) Sims, and Charles (Fannie) Booker. Special dear friends: Ester Giles and Glays Acree. Numerous relatives and adopted families around the world.
