School leadership must change, agency says

ATLANTA --- The Clayton County school system does not have "the ability to repair itself" and will lose its accreditation Sept. 1 unless significant change is made, said Mark Elgart, the CEO of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Losing accreditation would jeopardize federal funding, student acceptance into college and eligibility for scholarship money.

Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel said Wednesday she has opened an investigation into the election of board members. Gov. Sonny Perdue asked Ms. Handel to investigate whether board members reside in their districts as required.

Former 'Penthouse' pet looks to sell home

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. --- A former Penthouse pet who had been accused of running a brothel has her million-dollar home for sale.

Lisa Ann Taylor listed the white-columned mansion, which sits on a golf course in one of suburban Atlanta's exclusive neighborhoods, for $1.2 million.

Ms. Taylor, who uses the stage name Melissa Wolf, was arrested along with another woman in January 2007 on prostitution and drug charges. As part of a plea deal, she was sentenced to seven years probation and fined $150,000. If the fine isn't paid before Oct. 10, Gwinnett County can seize her home.
