'Detours'

ARTIST: Sheryl Crow

RELEASED: Feb. 5

MY THOUGHTS: Ms. Crow has come a long way from her first hit, Tuesday Night Music Club , so it's no wonder her music has changed, too. The songs on her newest album are full of political undertones and are more synthesized. All of the songs have a catchy beat and even catchier lyrics, but I think she's flat-out trying too hard. I love Sheryl Crow, but I wish she would stop attempting "political music" and go back to those earthy, girl-next-door blues.

'Tyler Perry's: Why Did I Get Married'

DVD RELEASE DATE: Feb. 12

RATING: PG-13

MY THOUGHTS: I really had a good time with this movie. This was one of Mr. Perry's best! The plot revolves around three married couples who attend a couples' retreat in Colorado. When one of the men brings an attractive woman instead of his mistreated wife, the other couples become skeptical of the whereabouts of his wife. The movie depicts the importance of being honest and faithful in a relationship. I recommend this movie for families in need of a good lesson wrapped in a good laugh.

Amazon Kindle

RELEASED: Oct. 15

MY THOUGHTS: I think the Kindle is a great new way to read. This product can hold more than 200 books, and when looking for books to download, you have more than 100,000 choices. For a device that has that much storage, it's light, weighing only 10.3 ounces. Also, it's cool how you don't need to hook it up to a computer. I would recommend it on trips because it also holds music. Even though the Kindle costs $399, it's so popular it's on back order. To check it out, visit www.kindle.com.
