California dreaming of a Stanford education? The Palo Alto Ivy League school announced it will be joining the trend of tuition cuts for middle class families. If a student's family income is less than $100,000, then tuition is free, and if it's less than $60,000, the school will also pay for most of the room and board.

WORLD

Fidel Castro stepped down as Cuba's leader last week, leaving many to speculate about the political future of the island nation. His brother, Raul, who has been working as defense minister, will be his successor.

STATE

The drought has Georgia drawing lines. Georgia legislators claim the boundaries of Georgia and Tennessee are drawn incorrectly, and the intended state line, a little more than a mile off, would include the Tennessee River. To successfully move the boundaries, Congress and the states would have to agree, which seems unlikely at this point.

ENTERTAINMENT

Miley Cyrus came under criticism by the Consumer Reports blog for not wearing a seat belt in the Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert film. Her father, Billy Ray Cyrus later said the flap was caused by an oversight during filming.
