AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Claude E. White, Sr., of Holly Street, entered into rest on Friday, February 22, 2008 at Medical College of Georgia. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jacob Trowell officiating. Burial will be in Spirit Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. He was a native of Richmond County, Ga., ran for Sheriff of Richmond County in 1976 and 1984. He was chief auto mechanic for the Holley Street for 10 years and earned a Master's degree from Clinton Law Enforcement School in 1962. He also enjoyed restoring cars and building race car motors and painting cars. Survivors are one daughter, Claudine White Mitchell, Augusta; son-in-law, Lamont Mitchell; two sisters, Evelyn B. Martin, Sonya B. Williams; three brothers, Elder George L. White, Sr., Johnny A. White, Oscar J. White, Augusta; five grandchildren, Ashley, Aaron Mautrellus, LaTeria and Michael; devoted friends, Tyrone Walker, Arthur Lee Prescott, David Lee Cunningham, Joe Owens; and other relatives.
