DACULA, Ga. - Ernest Poole Tomlinson, Jr., age 78, of Dacula, Ga., died February 24, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Sing Tomlinson and is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Ruth Tomlinson of Lawrenceville, Paul and Jaymie Tomlinson of Bethlehem, Ga.; grandchildren, Jennifer and Adam Duncan, Julie and Matt Plunkett, Steven, Taylor, Ryan, and Luke Tomlinson. Mr. Tomlinson served in the Air Force during the Korean War. After his military service, he graduated from Georgia Tech. He was a deacon and member of Clairmont Hills Baptist Church in Decatur for more than 25 years and was a current member of Snellville First Baptist Church. Mr. Tomlinson retired from Gulf Oil Company after serving 35 years as a Product Supply Director. In retirement, Mr. Tomlinson served as a board member of The High Hope Center in Lawrenceville. He also enjoyed golfing as a member of Summit Chase Country Club in Snellville. Mr. Tomlinson was a part time resident of Swainsboro, Ga. where he was a member of the Kiwanis Club. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 27 at 11 a.m. at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel with Dr. Howard Ramsey and Rev. Guy Priester officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside service will be held at Swainsboro City Cemetery, Thursday at 2 p.m. with visitation from 12 until 1:30 p.m. at Durden- Hudson Funeral Directors.
