MARTINEZ, Ga. - Jerry F. Ramsey, 70, of Martinez, GA, died Sunday, February 17, 2008 at his home. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville, NC, with Rev. Berry V. Wren officiating. Burial, with full military honors, followed at Onslow Memorial Park. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, February 24, 2008 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home at 4255 Columbia Road, Martinez. Mr. Ramsey was born and raised in Jacksonville. He retired from the US Army and later retired from the State of Georgia as a Correctional Officer and made his home in Martinez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Ramsey and Sally Toth; and one sister, Carolyn Fisher. Survivors include his wife, Marie Hewitt Ramsey of the home; one daughter, Norma Sewell and her husband, David, of Simpsonville, SC; three grandchildren, Ashley, Christopher and Brandon; and one sister, Faye Thomas of Jacksonville. The family will receive friends Tuesday prior to the service from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Society, 2711 Breezewood Avenue, Suite A, Fayetteville, NC 28303. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father and PaPa.
