EDGEFIELD COUNTY, S.C. - Mr. Pernell Ashley, 96, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at his residence, 102 Community Rd., after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held today, February 22, 2008 at 1 p.m. from the Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, Trenton, S.C., with the Rev. G. L. Brightharp officiating and the Rev. Michael A. Robinson, Eulogist. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Dr. William W. Ashley and wife, Dr. Glenda Manley Ashley, Chicago, Ill., Ernest Butler and wife, Alberta Smith Butler, North Augusta; two daughters, Estella Marie Ashley Moore and husband, Ernest Moore, Orangeburg, S.C., Dr. Carolyn Ashley Eberhardt and husband, Robert G. Eberhardt, II, Miami, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. A'La Perle Hickman, Aiken; two brothers-in-law, Rev. Winchester Robinson, Columbia, S.C., Deacon Patrick Henry Robinson, Sr., Graniteville, S.C.; sister-in-law, Ethel Mae Robinson, Graniteville, S.C.; eight grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren; caregiver, Mary "Mimi" Celestin; many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. The remains will be placed in the church today one hour prior to the service. The family will leave the residence at 12:35 p.m. today, Friday, February 22, 2008.
