HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Mr. Theodore Lawrence 'Lance' Axon, 64, of McCall St., Hephzibah, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 21, 2008, at his residence. Funeral services will be held from the Sherwood Baptist Church, Saturday February 23, 2008, at 10:00 A.M., with the Reverend Jim Johnson, the Reverend Marion Jay and the Reverend William Swink officiating. Interment with full military honors by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Mr. Axon, a native Augustan, retired as a Chief Warrant Officer-4 from the USN after 29 years of dedicated service to his country. He was also retired from the V.A. Hospital and the Aiken County School System at Midland Valley High School. He was a lifelong member of Sherwood Baptist Church and a dedicated disciple of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Lawrence Axon was a hard working man. He loved to work. He may have even intentionally broken things just to have work to do. He had a work ethic unlike most other men in this world. He worked hard every day of his life so that his family could have everything they needed and most of the things they wanted. Hopefully he is now able to finally take a vacation and rest for a few thousand years. But, more than likely, he's up in Heaven right now trying to fix that 'squeak' made by the pearly gates as they opened up for him. We love you LawrenceÉyour family. Mr. Axon was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Gladys McCool, his beautiful son, Aaron Shane Axon and his step-sister Melinda Sasxon Zielinski.
