He stole less than Few, give him the same punishment, NOTHING.....
BARNWELL, S.C. --- The Long Branch volunteer fire chief has been charged with one count of embezzlement of public funds and five counts of forgery, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
Horace Glenn "Buddy" Delk Jr., 41, of the 1800 block of Seven Bridges Road in Barnwell, was arrested Wednesday by state agents.
Chief Delk turned himself in at the Barnwell County Sheriff's Office, where he was charged with embezzling more than $5,000 of Barnwell County funds for his personal use between January 2005 and December.
He was released on a personal recognizance bond, according to county officials.
The forgery charges include cashing Long Branch Fire Department checks totaling $7,278.88. These include:
- Nov. 15, 2005, for $650.
- Feb. 16, 2006, for $4,361.85 at Stanford's Computer Sales and Service, Inc.
- Sept. 12, 2006, for $679.47.
- Feb. 20, 2007 for $738.
- March 8, 2007, for $849.56.
Chief Delk is also a firefighter/engineer for the city of Barnwell, where he has worked for more than three years, according to City Fire Chief Thomas A. "Tony" Dicks.
The arrest followed an investigation by SLED at the request of the Barnwell County Council, authorities said. The case will be prosecuted in the 2nd Circuit Solicitor's Court.
He stole less than Few, give him the same punishment, NOTHING.....
Paper trail Chief Delk, how many times must I tell you ...steal cash ...not checks. Dufus! You are probably a better fireman than a thief. Cheer-up, a young fella like you has a great future in politics. Congress is full of your ilk. May God Bless you ... Let no man kiss you.
Does the fire department have a board with officers appointed by the other fire department members and have meeting each month? I know ours does and at the meeeting the treasurer says how much is in the account and what bills need to be paid and everyone has to approve it. Plus the head of the district sends out a annual report of bills and other items pretaining to the fire department. Plus everyone has a right to see the records. At least that is what we do in Power Montana.
Where and when was it reported that Few stole anything?
When I read the headline, I thought Few had gotten a new job. Glad to see I was wrong.
Few did get a new job, as fire chief in Demopolis, AL, population ~7,000. Although there was enough evidence to indict him for his missappropriating public funds for personal use, the Special Grand Jury committe that investigated the fire department declined to return an indictment, mainly in the interest of protecting the tenuous peace in Augusta. Few had already moved away to Washington, DC, so, thought the SG juroros, what was the point in stirring all that mess up? There was no way that money was ever going to come back to us and threat lunatic idiots on the county commission had already made fools of themselves and embarrassed the community by going to DC to accuse us of racism for investigating a crook caught with his hand in the public till. [Read the presentment if you don't believe this.] Few will probably do better in a community the size of Barnwell or Long Branch. He's more sophisticated than the lamentable Chief Delk.
justass read your archives.....few was a crook..end of story.
wow justass, bigot and stupid in the same paragraph, amazing. What is a "radical racist"? Is that more than just "rabid racist"? Making ASSumptions that the guy lied AND "expect something for their time"? When was the last time you saw ANYONE get ten years for embezzlement? About indictments... the "corrupt justice" [sic] & "lying law enforcement". How did you arrive at that "indictment" before the case has gone anywhere? What exactly is a "circus circuit"? How much would you charge to walk into burning structures on a daily basis, let alone be the one responsible for directing others to walk into burning structures? Uneducated my [filtered word]; I could have a Phd in Liberal Arts & it wouldn't qualify me to be a firefighter (Do you want fries with that?). While I do know they have advanced training for firefighters, I'm not sure if they have a PhD for it. By "uneducated", do you mean he failed third grade? If ignorance is bliss, you must be orgasmic. PS those WITH advanced degrees in the CSRA; some are making considerably more than 65K, without risk.
If you are able to read and have the capacity for rational thought and critical assessment of objective information, JUSTUS, your information pool would improve considerably by actually reading the Special Grand Jury Fire Dept Committee report. I know this report intimately, having helped construct it. The evidence was exceedingly clear and plentiful; Few could have been charged, and many on the committee wanted to do that. He (and apparently you) can thank Danny Craig that we all were spared the nightmare it would have been for this community had Few actually been called to account for his misdeeds. There was absolutely NO racism involved in the investigation (those who gave incriminating evidence were almost all Afr-Am and his biggest ARCFD supports included many whites). If anything, it was over-sensitivity to the sensibilities of Augusta's Afr-Am community that led to the decision not to indict Few. I don't expect you have the capacity to recognize the truth as it was and is, but there it is, ready for you to foam at the mouth once again. We will never make any headway together if crooks and fools keep getting a pass out of race loyalty, no matter which race. Please, evolve.
If you still have doubts, JUSTUS, consider how much you might spend on a really good new suit to wear for your daughter's wedding, multiply that amount by about 5 and then charge it to your office. Also, order sunglasses for all your closest friends at work, really good ones-- like $400 a pair good-- and then list that as an office expense. Few made out like Il Duce and when a few people started asking for even a semblance of an accounting, they either got accused of racism (sound familiar?) or, if they worked for the fire dept, they got their walking papers plus lots of garbage thrown at them on their way out. The people who suffered most under him were--drumroll please--Afr-American firefighters who weren't getting a fair shake, quite apart from the larceny. You ought to care about the real African American victims of this situation: low income taxpayers being victimized by dishonest and wasteful goverment spendthrifts, and the honest, hardworking fire department employees who either had turn a blind eye and kiss Few's rear end or lose their place in the line of advancement. We lost some good people because of Few, and they weren't white. Don't you care about them at all, Big J?
