EDGEFIELD COUNTY, S.C. - Mr. Pernell Ashley, 96, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at his residence, 102 Community Rd., after an extended illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date. Mr. Ashley was a devout member of the Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, Trenton, S.C. He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Dr. William W. Ashley and wife, Dr. Glenda Manley Ashley, Chicago, Ill., Ernest Butler and wife, Alberta Smith Butler, North Augusta, S.C.; two daughters, Estella Marie Ashley Moore and husband, Ernest Moore, Orangeburg, S.C., Dr. Carolyn Ashley Eberhardt and husband, Robert G. Eberhardt, II, Miami, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. A'La Perle Hickman, Aiken, S.C.; two brothers-in-law, Rev. Winchester Robinson, Columbia, S.C., Deacon Patrick Henry Robinson, Sr., Graniteville, S.C.; sister-in-law, Ethel Mae Robinson, Graniteville, S.C.; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; caregiver, Mary "Mimi" Celestin; many nieces, nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
