Ron Paul still running two races

  • Follow Letters

As of last week, rumors were beginning to surface on the Internet that Ron Paul had dropped out of the presidential race. So, before the mainstream media puts their spin on the story, here is the straight scoop.

Ron Paul has suspended his campaign in order to defend his congressional seat in Texas. The campaign for president is still on, and I urge all supporters to continue on with business as usual. If Dr. Paul should lose his seat in Congress and fail to get the nomination, America and Ron Paul suffer a one-two punch.

If you have even $5 to spare, donate it to either of Ron Paul's campaigns. If you have an extra $10, send five to each campaign. Either way, let's ensure Ron Paul stays in Washington for America.

Rick James, Wagener, S.C.

Poke him:he's finished!

i'm not giving him anything. He needs to admit defeat and let it go. The better man is winning.

Rick James, for someone "setting the record straight", you kinda mucked it up a bit!

Dr Paul has NOT "suspended" his campaign. Two things are happening:
(1) He has scaled staff back a bit, which is perfectly to be expected given that they had been geared up to campaign in 24 states at once, for Super Tuesday. Given that Super Tuesday is over, they can easily move staff from one state to the next, covering several at once, still with fewer numbers than were required for Super Tuesday. That's logical, and fiscally responsible. That's Dr Paul's M.O.
(2) He has a second race on in parallel - a Republican primary for his Congressional seat - finishing on march 4. Whilst that is underway, his national campaign has less interstate visits, and he has more events in his own district.

Both events were planned long ago. We go on!

Well does it really matter if he's suspended his presidential campaign or not? I mean..you both do know he's not going to win right? He's a pretty solid conservative and makes a lot of sense on most issues. There were just two BIG things that killed his campaign from day one. 1. This election has seen the rock star politicians thrive while the Duncan Hunter's of the world died an early death. I didn't know who Ron Paul was before he declared he was running. 2. The other problem he had with conservatives was his stance on the war. While it would be fun to just be isolationists for a while, it just isn't practical when we depend on the oil from that region.

Greetings Rick James! Glad to hear you're onboard with Ron Paul for President! Thank you for reminding folks to continue donating if they can.

Still to do: the rally in Washington DC and the Republican National Convention.

In support of Liberty and Peace.

Suspended, sushmended. Ron Paul is still in the running. Or do you want to keep paying for Halliburtons? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuPUFRusOBo

He has no hope at all. There should be a law that if you run for President, you forfeit your seat!

b1...please be quiet.

I neversupported RON Paul and don't know why anyone would continue to send him money knowing he is toast and provide him with a bunch of money to keep as his own.

I'm Rick James b***!

Littlepear, we are paying Halliburton for the same military support functions that BJ Cliton hired them for in the Balkans (no bid contract the leftists keep whingin about). Ron Paul ain't got a snow man's chance in hell, so why give him more money to stuff his pocets with when he has lost?

b1, I have always said that any elected official running for higher or other office should have to resign from their current elected office. You can't function as you were elected to do and politic/stump as the same time.

Jack,

Of ALL the candidates that were running (not just the ones remaining), Dr Paul has missed the least votes of all - something like 20%. ALL the others have missed MANY more. There's some newspaper website showing the places that candidates have campaigned. Dr Paul has visited the least places, because he decides to do his Congressional job, too. Of the candidates, Obama was worst, having missed ~80% of votes. I can't remember Clinton and McCain's figures specifically, but they were WAY higher than Dr Paul.

Do you really believe that Senator Clinton, Senator Obama, and Senator McCain, should all resign their offices - or are you just being a hypocrite?

As a California resident that works in the movie industry, a two time resident of Augusta, former Senate Page for Strom Thurmond and former cook at Hooters of Augusta (yeah, it was the best job), I want to give you guys my take. Ron is still running for Pres. And any support for him is most graciously received. Ron voted AGAINST the Patriot Act -the laws that allow the government to detain you, indefinitely, without charges. He is a strict Constitutionalist & maintains the 2nd Amendment without fail. He voted against the Iraq invasion. And even George Bush has said that Iraq had no connection to 9/11 (search youtube for 'bush admits Iraq'). Ron Paul wants to end the taxes on your paycheck. If the government was scaled back to its 2000 level, an income tax would not be required to support it. Ron gets $0 from big biz & the most from our military. Lastly, Ron is the only guy that can beat a Democrat. Notice how before the election, all over the news, there was '70% of America wants us out'? Now it's 'the surge is working'. Wait till' McCain gets nominated. The media is going to turn up the negativity on the Iraq war full volume. 'Hundred Year' McCain will be destroyed.
