Bottom Line

There have been some traumatic and tragic events in the news lately.

The five shooting deaths of students at Northern Illinois University is right up there for pure tragedy.

The multiple deaths from an illegal drag race on a public street in Maryland is right up there for sheer stupidity.

But for down-home despicable, it's hard to beat the Florida sheriff's deputy accused of dumping a quadriplegic man onto the floor from his wheelchair.

Hillsborough County Deputy Charlette Marshall-Jones told the man in custody on a traffic warrant to stand up. When he said he couldn't, she allegedly spilled him onto the floor.

She's charged with felony abuse of a disabled person -- and could get up to five years in prison.

First offense or no, if convicted she should get every day of it. Despicable.

She did not "allegedly" spill him onto the floor. It's on videotape, she did it.
