EVANS, Ga. - Entered into rest Friday, February 15, 2008 at the Medical College of Georgia, Mrs. Jean D. Townsley Ries, 89, wife of the late John Harold Ries, Sr. Mrs. Ries was a native of Barberton, OH. She lived in Akron and Dayton, Ohio before moving to Evans, GA 10 years ago. She was a former member of the Women's Board of Stan Hywet Hall, Order of the Eastern Star, and a former volunteer at Akron Childrens Hospital. Mrs. Ries is a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Akron where she was active in the Altar Society and Garden Club. Family members include her son: John Harold Ries, Jr. of Aiken, SC ; daughters: Kathleen Sundberg of Evans, GA, Carol Fanning of Canton, MI; sister: Marian Burke; grandchildren: Jeffrey M. Sundberg, Jennifer M. Sundberg, John H. Ries III, Joseph Ries, Richard W. Fanning, Jr., Timothy M. Fanning, Susan M. Fanning; great-grandchildren: Hannah Fanning, Isabelle Fanning, Chloe Fanning and Alexis Howell. A private graveside service will be held on Monday, February 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Westover Memorial Park with Fr. Michael Roverse officiating.
