AUGUSTA, Ga. - Dr. Lucretia Anne Parham of McBride Court died on Monday, February 11, 2008 at MCG. She was 49 years old. There will be no memorial service. However, contributions may be made to either the Lucretia Parham Fund for Student Research at Augusta State University (checks should be sent to the Augusta State University Foundation, 2500 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30904) or to a fund in her honor as yet unnamed at Augusta Technical College. Dr. Parham dedicated her life to higher education, in particular to students, like herself, who were first-generation college students. She developed a reputation as an exceptional teacher, as well as a humane and dedicated administrator. Her enthusiasm, intellect, and humanity were among her qualities most admired among her colleagues and her students. Dr. Parham lived in Savannah and moved to Augusta in 2005 to become Director of Academic Computing and Library at Augusta Technical College. In Savannah she was the Chief Information Officer at Armstrong Atlantic State. Dr. Parham was also Assistant Professor of Business Administration at Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina. She received her Ph.D. from Auburn University. She is survived by her husband, Robert Parham; her parents, Junior Freeman and Frances Weathers; Robert's children, Thomas Parham and Misty Parham; her sister, Brenda Harmon.
