- David King , the University Hospital microbiology lab manager, has been voted 2008 president-elect for the Southeastern Association for Clinical Microbiology.

- The following Augusta students have graduated from the University of Georgia: Augustin Alexander Savage, Benjamin Piya Austin, Margaret Ruth Bohannon and Elizabeth Montgomery Claussen .

- Augusta West Performing Companies recently competed in the Tremaine Dance Competition in Atlanta and returned with a first place and an overall high point award for their performance of Spice Girls. The dancers finished with a first- and second-place award among all four of their performing companies.

Brien Rich , of the senior company, was named Male Teen Dancer of the Year and is traveling to dance competitions across the country to perform with the Tremaine staff.

- Richmond County has been recognized as one of 110 districts to be granted district accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement. Also, the Richmond County school system is one of the first 200 school systems in the nation to achieve this distinction as a quality school system.

- The following area students have earned degrees from Valdosta (Ga.) State University:

Alison Colette , Augusta, bachelor of fine arts in theatre arts; Chester Mallie Willis , Augusta, bachelor of science in nursing; William Blake , Hephzibah, master of public administration; and Jvonna Denise Cornelius , Hephzibah, bachelor of science in biology.

- The following Augusta residents have been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Samford University, Birmingham, Ala.:

Drew E. Cockerham , daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Cockerham; and Jennifer L. Wiggins , daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur W. Wiggins.

- Sarah. A. Gibson , daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Gibson, of Augusta, has been named a spring 2007 honor student at Phillips Exeter Academy, Exeter, N.H.

- Benjamin Wright Witcher , of Augusta, has been named to the dean's list at Lenoir-Rhyne College, Hickory, N.C.

- Amy Elizabeth Rush , of Augusta, has been named to the dean's list at for the fall 2007 semester at Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, N.C.

- James Dickerson , of Augusta, has been named to the dean's list at Lander University, Greenwood, S.C.
