WAYNESBORO, Ga. - Mrs. Doris Butler Horton, age 85, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday morning, February 12, 2008 at Brentwood Terrace Health Center after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Horton was the widow of the late Braudice Freeman Horton. She was a Methodist by faith. Mrs. Horton was born in Alexander, GA on June 11, 1922 to the late Tate and Mary Williams Butler. Mrs. Horton was predeceased by a son "Pete" Horton, a grandson Brad Horton, and her sisters Elva Nobles, Ruth Kirkland, Eva Reeves, Lena Belle Tew, and Margaret Butler. Survivors include her son Mickey Horton and his wife Linda; two sisters, Mrs. Etherlyn Bargeron of Augusta, GA and Mrs. Francis Hancock of Nashville, GA; grandchildren, Belinda, Connor, and Tate Horton and Amanda Horton; and great-grandson James Connor. Serving as pallbearers for her service will be Tom Quick, Gene Parrish, Jim Reeves, Gary Hawes, Bruce Hawes and Frank Tison. Graveside services will be held Friday, February 15, 2008 at the Burke Memorial Gardens, Waynesboro, GA with Rev. J.R. McAlily officiating. The family will receive friends at Robertson's Heritage Chapel, 220 East Sixth Street, Waynesboro, GA, on Friday, February 15, 2008 from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Vidette United Methodist Church, c/o Ms. Elaine Wheatley, 240 Old Louisville Road, Keysville, GA 30816.
