AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Jean Louis Gerard Pierre Gamper, 61, of Augusta, Georgia, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at Heartland Hospice. He was the beloved partner of Ann Kerr "Kirn" Gulley. A native of Paris, France, Jean was the son of the late Adolf Gamper and the late Marie Louise Andree Rosset Gamper. He moved to Brazil when he was eight years old. He then moved to the United States when he was eighteen. Jean has lived in or near Augusta for the past thirty years. Jean was the previous owner of The White Elephant Cafe. He was the chef at Cadwallader's Cafe and a past chef at numerous restaurants throughout the Southeast, including Le Cafe Du Teau and The Plum. Jean Louis was a friend, teacher and mentor to many. He will be remembered for his creative spirit, love of the outdoors, strength, and enormous heart. Survivors include three sisters, Isabelle Jeanne Elisa Andree Gamper Vergamini, Marie Laure Annelis Alexandra Gamper Cardinal!, and Veronique Margareth Marinet Gamper Schoch; two nephews, Carlo Gamper Cardinal! and Brunno Gamper Vergamini; four nieces, Alexandra Gamper Cardinali, Fernanda Gamper Vergamini, Sharon Schoch, Elisa Gamper Vergamini; and Miss Peppy. He was predeceased by his dearest Nettie. A memorial service will be held in Sao Carlos, Brazil at a later date. Memorials may be made to the CSRA Humane Society, P.O.
