AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. James R. Lowery, 90, husband of Mrs. Elizabeth Lowery, of Leeds Court, Augusta, entered into rest Saturday, February 9, 2008 in Augusta. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors this Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Fred Heard and the Reverend C.W. Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mr. Lowery, a native of Columbia County, had lived in Augusta all of his life. He was the son of the late Oscar and Laura Hegwood Lowery. Mr. Lowery was a retired boiler operator with the Graniteville Company and a member of the Mize Memorial United Methodist Church, where he was active in the Men's Club. Mr. Lowery was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Lowery Nadeau; and his granddaughter, Janie Lowery. Additional survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Jean Lowery of Powder Springs, Ga.; brother, Roscoe Lowery of Atlanta, Ga.; nephew, Harry Peebles of Rockville, Md.; and a niece, Helen Pinkston of Augusta. Pallbearers will be Bryan Adams, Loyd Malcom, Jack Edwards, James Dorrill, Harman Beasley and Kenny Kinsey. The family will receive friends this Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
