Me too Barry, well said.
As the presidential campaign season moves into high gear, let's take a hard look at who will honestly work for us.
Who is shirking their current job to run for president? U.S. Sens. Hillary Clinton, John McCain and Barack Obama, as well as U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, are all sitting members of Congress. My boss would not pay me for a year while I flew around the country trying to get a new job. We can go ahead and cross these candidates off the list. If they will steal from us now, they will steal from us later. That only leaves Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney as viable candidates.
Who has a better handle on the wishes of the American people? Huckabee and Romney have both won primaries, and continue to finish well in other primaries. The issue that pushes Huckabee ahead in my mind is his support of the Fair Tax (www.fairtax.org).
Who can afford to be president? No one! How can anyone justify spending millions of dollars to get elected to a job that pays $500,000 per year? Huckabee's campaign fund has raised about $2 million. Romney spent $8 million to $9 million on the Iowa caucus alone. The math certainly doesn't add up to spend millions on a job that has the possibility to gross the candidate $2 million over four years. This simply shows who is better at spending other people's money.
We have sent too many folks to Congress and the White House who have been skilled at wastefully giving away our tax dollars. Remember that the government can't give you anything that it hasn't already taken from you. It is time we took care of ourselves and put someone in office that will get government out of the way and let us do that.
As for me, I am backing Mike Huckabee.

I've always felt that way about a sitting President running for re-election as a strong argument for a 6 year or 8 year term with no re-election. A new President spends the 1st year trying to find the bathrooms in the White House, works for 2 years, and then spends a year (and taxpayer's money) flying around the country in Air Force 1 running for re-election.
The Fair Tax is the ONLY "plan" that is not a "here's what I will do" but a "here's HOW I will do it". Too many voters think the Fair Tax is an "idea" that Huckabee has and don't realize the years of research and details behind the Fair Tax.
Regardless of whether or not Huckabee is our next President, the Fair Tax has more awareness than ever before. Once a person is an advocate of the Fair Tax, they don't flip-flop and stop being an advocate. The tipping point is coming, because unless the Fair Tax is enacted, the status quo tax system will just get worse, and worse, and worse.
Well said - brilliant, as are all of your letters to the editor!!
As a former resident of Georgia (Valdosta for 12 years), and a current resident of Tennessee, I am proud that these states voted for Huckabee. I know the FairTax made this happen. As a former resident of Florida, I know the support Huckabee got there was also largely due to the FairTax. Some people may not have liked the messenger but the message resonated loud and clear. If McCain dosen't pick Huckabee for VP he's a bigger fool than Romney who listened to his tax advisors who turned him against the FairTax.
